- Toney Mack Vines, 67, of Hampton, went home to be with the Lord following an extended illness on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Hermitage Health Center. He was a son of the late Dewey Vines and Virtie Stines Whaley and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ann Green Vines; a great-grandson, Grayson Anderson; two brothers and one sister.
Toney worked at North American Rayon Corporation over 30 years and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing and watching his grandsons play basketball.
Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Anthony Vines of Johnson City; three daughters, Jeannie Street and husband Tony of Roan Mountain, Kimberly Tucker and husband Jonathan of Johnson City, and Alena Bentley and husband James of Hampton; three brothers, Danny Vines of Jonesborough, Bob Vines and Gilbert Vines, both of Elizabethton; one sister, Vicki Snyder of Johnson City; his girlfriend, Joan Ramsey of Elizabethton; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Toney Mack Vines will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor James Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the funeral service, and at the home of a daughter, Kimberly Tucker. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Tucker, Tony Street, James Bentley, Tyler Street, Jordan Bentley, Bob Vines, Danny Vines and Gilbert Vines. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Carden, Scott Carden, Austin Bentley and Chris Bentley
