- Mary Sue Blevins, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Mary Sue was the daughter of the late Ollie and Mattie Richards Glover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest A. Blevins, on April 3, 2000; two brothers, Harold and Harmon Glover; and a nephew, Douglas Glover.
Mary Sue was retired from SmithKlineBeecham Pharmaceutical, after 45 years of service. She was a member of Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She also attended Biltmore Baptist Church and served as WMU President for several years.
Survivors include a nephew, Stephen Glover and wife Sandy, and their son, Gary; a niece, Patti Frack and husband Jim, all of Lutherville, Md.; a great-nephew, Brian Glover, with sons, Brett and Tyler; and a great-niece, Dionne Rash and daughter, Hannah. Additional family members are Brenda Norkett, Kay Shipley, Glen Shipley, Clayton, David and Jim Hawk and sister-in-law, Armetta Hunigan.
A service to honor the life of Mary Sue will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Jamie Ferguson and Rev. Bill Davis officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 11, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be David Bartley, Wade Lockner, Brian Glover, Mark Blevins, Tim Hawk, James Hartley, Thomas White and Brad Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Sue's church family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the love and care shown to Mary Sue during her illness.
