- ELIZABETHTON - Bessie Hemphill, 81, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at her home. A native of Johnson City, she was a daughter of the late Dave and Ida Morton Campbell. Mrs. Hemphill was a member of Rich Acres Freewill Baptist Church, Johnson City. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. Hemphill loved going to church and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hemphill was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack F. Hemphill and seven sisters and three brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Debbie Barnes and her husband David of Elizabethton; her son, Gary Hemphill and his wife Sherry of Elizabethton; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Thelma Sneyd and her husband Carl of Johnson City.
The family will receive friends and family to share memories from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services, Johnson City. The family requests your presence for a Celebration of Life Service immediately following at 7:00PM with Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff officiating. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Monte Vista Memorial Park, Johnson City. Attendees are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:30AM to follow in procession. Pallbearers will be Jamie Hemphill, Michael Barnes, Chris Barnes, Mark Chatman, Joshua Sneyd and Wayne Ford. Honorary pallbearers will be David Barnes and Jimmy Hemphill. The family will also receive friends at other times at the home.
