  Notes	REUBEN J. CARDEN Reuben J. Carden, Sr., one of the oldest citizens of Carter County, died Sunday at 3:45 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fina Collins, at Watauga Valley. Mr. Carden was born June 10, 1849. He is survived by one son, Rhody Carden, of Watauga Valley; three daughters, Mrs. Fina Collins of Watauga Valley, Mrs. R. P. Carden of Siam and Mrs. Maggie Fortuner of Horseshoe Dam and two stepdaughters, Mrs. Sallie Crow of Horseshoe and Mrs. John Crow of Blue Springs. Also surviving him are 43 great grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Horseshoe Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. N. C. Coleman and the Rev. Roe Smith in charge. The Nidiffer Chapel Quartet will be in charge of the singing. The Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Horseshoe. Active pallbearers will be the grandsons. The granddaughters will serve as flower bearers.
