- Mrs. Hazel Proffit Winebarger, 95, of the Meat Camp community, Boone, died Saturday evening, April 15, 2006, at Watauga Medical Center.
She was born June 29, 1910 in Watauga County, a daughter of Willie and Bessie Winebarger Proffit.
Mrs. Winebarger was a member of Proffit's Grove Baptist Church.
She and her husband owned and operated a general merchandise store in the Meat Camp community for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Bessie Winebarger Proffit; her husband, John Dayton Winebarger; a son, Kenneth Winebarger; a daughter, Betty Winebarger Farthing; a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Shaw; and two sons-in-law, Arvil Miller and Van Farthing.
Burial followed at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
