- ELIZABETHTON - Mitchel Lane Fritts, age 66, of 604 Bingham Street, Elizabethton, TN, lost his battle with cancer on Friday, August 19, 2016 at his residence. Mitchel was born in Mountain City, Tennessee to the late Warren and Helen Ruth McCloud Fritts. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Emeline Fritts, from Mountain City; and his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Ida McCloud, from Elizabethton.
Mitchel retired from the City of Johnson City Water and Sewer Department. He was a member of Eastside Freewill Baptist church, where he was involved in the Food Pantry and Transportation Ministry. Mitchel was also a Reserve Police Officer for the City of Bluff City for 12 years. He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles and camping and fishing.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years, Nora Hardin Fritts, of the home; a son, Stacy Fritts, also of the home; a brother, Phil V. Fritts, of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews; and his first cousins, Helen and Phyllis.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Mitchel Lane Fritts will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Monday, August 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Justin Deaton, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Monday.
The graveside service will follow at Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Carr, Mike Tolbert, Jeff Arnold, Allen McCloud, and Matt Pollock. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Fair, Josh Fair, David Nelson, Cecil Nelson, Dick Mueller, and Lewis Winters.
