DAVID M. SHOUN OF TAMPA DIES
David M. Shoun, age 93, retired teacher died July 27th in Tampa, Fla. He is survived by six nephews and one niece. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Tampa, Fla.
Mr. Shoun was born in Doe Valley, Johnson County, son of the late Samuel E. Shoun and Mary R. McQuown. He was the youngest son of a family of ten children — 8 boys and 2 girls. He was the last of his family.
He married Kate Forrest of McMinn County in 1915. She died in 1934 and his second marriage was to Lucy Belle Getch of Orlando, Fla. in 1937. She died in 1956.
He graduated from the Holly Springs College and Carson Newman College. He held the Master Degree in mathematics from Howard University. He taught in Carter and Sullivan County and Holly Springs College for a number of years and later taught in Thomasville, Ga. Leaving Georgia he went to Hillsboro High School in Tampa, Fla. as head of the mathematics department where served until his retirement from teaching; after this he worked with the Florida Teachers Credit Association.
