- Ethel Hill Miller, age 89, formerly of Hampton, went to be with her Lord Saturday, January 1, 2011 in the Pine Ridge Care and Rehab Center. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late A.B. and Hillie Whitehead Hill. Mrs. Miller was a member of Little Doe Freewill Baptist Church and attended Rittertown Baptist Church. She was a former employee of the Dave Simerly Store, and enjoyed gardening and keeping her lawn up. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Romulus S. Miller who died on January 5, 1967; four sisters, Katie Hill, Bell Campbell, Bonnie Stanley, and Maxine Honeycutt; and six brothers, Jim Hill, Walter Hill, Floyd Hill, Clyde Hill, Efford Hill, and Glenn Hill. She is survived by a special niece and nephew, Pauline and George Smith, Hampton; three great nieces, Alesia Ramsey, Shona Fritts, and Terri Berry; a great-great niece, Shelbie Morgan, great-great nephew, Seth Ramsey; and a special friend, Emmie Honeycutt. She is also survived by several additional nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Ethel Hill Miller will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 3, 2011 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Richard Stout and Rev. Dean Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Monday prior to the service or at the home of George and Pauline Smith other times. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Whitehead Cemetery in Hampton. Active pallbearers will be Mark Payne, Brian Fritts, Jack Smith, Jerry "Tip" Smith, Mike Smith and Gordon Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Ramsey, Jerry Street, and Seth Ramsey. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Pine Ridge Care and Rehab Center for the loving and devoted care given to Ethel during her illness
