- Edward Guinn, 84, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from the Johnson City Medical Center. Edward was born in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Claude and Rachel Puckett Guinn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Ownby, and his brothers, Tom (Audrey) Puckett, L.D. (Ruby) Guinn and Mack Guinn.
Edward had worked in construction for various employers including the TPI Corporation for 10 years. He was a member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Those left to cherish Edward’s memory include his loving and devoted wife of 62-1/2 years, Eula ‘Dean’ Guinn, of the home; his son, Steve (Jannie) Guinn of Elizabethton; his granddaughters, Margo (Robert) Davenport of Knoxville, Tenn., Monica (Darien) Hamm of Bristol Tenn., and Megan Guinn of Knoxville, Tenn.; a great-granddaughter, Paisley Davenport of Knoxville, Tenn.; his sisters, Flo “Pauline” McKinney of Elizabethton, his twin sister, Erma Stevens of Elizabethton, Louise (Carmen) Whitehead of Elizabethton and Rose (Gordon) Lewis of Elizabethton; and his sisters-in-law, Pauline Ahrens of Elizabethton and Wanda Morgan of Martinsville, Va. Several nieces and nephews as well as his special friends, Lester Julian, Dewey and Scharee Hill and Jack and Karen Presnell, also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Edward Guinn will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 30, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Jeremy Burleson and Pastor Steve Burleson officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will follow in the George Mottern Cemetery in Watauga. Active pallbearers will be Darien Hamm, Robert Davenport, Chris Childers, Lester Julian, Freddy Julian, Gordon Lewis, Keith Lowe, Jack Presnell, Doug Colbaugh and Rick Renfro. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Collins, Jackie Collins, Jeff Lewis, Terry Whitehead, Carmen Whitehead, Michael Whitehead, Steve Burleson, Dawson Fair, Dewey Hill and Reverend Bobby Stout.
