- Dorothy Clement, Johnson City, TN, entered into eternal rest on September 26, 2015.
She was the daughter of Ora McKeehan and Mildred Simerly of Elizabethton, TN. After graduating from ETSU, she married James W. Clement. They traveled and lived in numerous states and countries while Jim was a pilot in the US Air Force until his death in 1970 in Vietnam. She taught at St. Mary's High School and Central High School in Cheyenne, WY. After her youngest son graduated from high school, a love of travel and meeting people led her to join the Department of Defense, where she had teaching assignments in both the Atlantic and Pacific regions. Devoted to the pursuit of knowledge and education, she formed lifelong bonds and kept in contact with many of her students. She moved to Johnson City in 1995, where she was a member of St. Mary's Church and a volunteer at St. Mary's School.
Preceding her in death were her husband, mother, father, two sisters, Wanda Adams and Maxine Little; a brother, Tommy McKeehan, who was killed in the invasion of Normandy; and her protector, Thomas H. Lane.
She is survived by five children, J. Michael Clement (Alice), Parker, CO; Dr. Mark Clement, Boston, MA; Lt. Col. Jeffrey H. Clement, ANG, Retired (Kim), Austin, TX; Jana Flynn (Ray), Johnson City, TN; Dr. John Clement, Greeneville, TN; grandchildren, Ryan Clement (Ann), Matthew Clement, Kelin Clement, Mara Clement, Mattson Clement, Kaley Clement, Kendall Phillippi (Josh), Kaitlin Clement, MacKenzie Clement, Kaden Clement, Kennedy Clement, Kiera Flynn Epstein (Michael), Patrick Flynn, Katherine Flynn; great grandchildren: Lane Clement, Holly Clement, Caralie Clement; her dear cousin, Wilma McKeehan; nephew and niece, Danny Little (Debbie), Judy Little; great nieces and nephews, Melissa Adams, Kevin Adams, Jennifer Hicks (Brian), Alan Little (Tracy); and her longtime friend and traveling companion, Charles Ailsworth.
The family will receive friends at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Johnson City, TN on Saturday, October 3, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass, conducted by Fr. Randy Stice, will follow at 1:00 p.m.
She will be buried with her beloved husband, Jim, at Arlington National Cemetery.
