- James M. McKeehan, 77, 2113 Gap Creek Road, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Mr. McKeehan was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Luther Clyde and Bertha Dugger McKeehan, and a stepson of the late Laura Sims McKeehan. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cozette Sanders McKeehan, in 1979, and a brother, Basil McKeehan.
Mr. McKeehan was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Larry Lane, Johnson City; five sisters, Ruth Gouge, Johnson City, Joyce Pickering, Gray, Charlotte McKeehan and Geraldine McKeehan, both of Elizabethton, and Lois Willette, Fairhope, Ala.; three brothers, Edwin McKeehan, Roswell, Ga., Luther McKeehan and Donald McKeehan, both of Elizabethton; and a grandson and his wife, Chad and Nancy Lane, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
McKEEHAN -- Funeral services for James M. McKeehan, 77, 2113 Gap Creek Road, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. C.W. Snodgrass and the Rev. Harold Campbell officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir, Steve Vannoy and Audrey Taylor. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 27, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 7:50 p.m. Thursday and also at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday, will be Clyde Hodge, Chet Bageant, Richard Loveless, Darrell Bowers, Audrey Taylor, Stewart Blackburn, Steve Vannoy and Ray Loveless. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Hyder, Bill Davis, The Praying Mountain Men, the Adult Men's Sunday School Class of Zion Baptist Church, Dr. Jerry Gastineau, friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Zion Baptist Church. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
