- MRS. N. J. PEEKS
Mrs. N. J. Peeks of Elizabethton died Saturday night, April 5th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Brown, 114 East Watauga avenue. Mrs. Peeks was one of the oldest citizens of Carter county. She was born March 8th, 1843, being 87 years old. She leaves the following to mourn their loss, one daughter, Mrs. Ben Brown of Johnson City, one son, David Peeks, of Elizabethton, twenty-five grandchildren, two brothers, Bud Scalf, of South Watauga, Bill Scalf of Elizabethton, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Scalf of Elizabethton. Funeral services were conducted from the home of Mrs. J. E. Peeks this afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. J. J. Musick and E. A. Cox officiating. The music was in charge of Luther Hampton
Pallbearers were: Bill Smith, J. H. Parker, Alvin Kite, E. D. Johnson, James Large, Bill Colbough, John Wilson and Bob Snodgrass.
Flower bearers: Miss Mable Etter, Misses Elizabeth Maupin, Miss Ollie Crow, Mrs. Ellis Carriger, Mrs. Nat Burchfield, and Miss Louise Johnson.
Interment at the Highland cemetery.
