- Mr. Scalf was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Chester and Nell Bowling Scalf. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Diane Scalf Blackwell, and a son, Robert Dale "Bo" Scalf.
Mr. Scalf was retired from Moores Potato Chip Company and was of the Baptist Faith. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Holly Scalf; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Linda Gail Scalf, Elizabethton; a brother, Randy Scalf, of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Natasha Scalf, of the home, Kathie Dyan Scalf and Erick Estep, both of Elizabethton, Logan Rowe, Limestone, and Connor Hall, of South Carolina; and a great-grandchild, Craig Estep, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
