- Delano Clay Bare, 80, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015, at the V.A. Hospital, Nashville. He was born in Ashe County, N.C., and was the son of Myrtle Phillips Bare, Johnson City, Tenn., and the late Arvel Glenn Bare. Mr. Bare retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service and then worked as a mechanic with Forbes Service Station in Elizabethton for many years. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church, Elizabethton. Mr. Bare loved hunting and fishing and was an avid Elizabethton High School football and Elizabethton Twins baseball fan. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife of 51 years, Christa Gritl Bare, Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Joanne Tindall and her husband Billy, Nashville, Tenn.; two sons, Clay Christian Bare and his wife Helen, Houston, Texas, and Stephen Glenn Bare and his wife Julie, Porterdale, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Hayes, Johnson City, Tenn. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A service to honor the life of Delano Clay Bare will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, October 12, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Bruce Hendrix and Rev. Bob Polk officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard.
