- ERWIN — McDaniel "Danny" English Sams, age 75, of Erwin, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at Unicoi County Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Faust, NC. He was the son of Paul English and Inez Wing Sams. He worked for the former Clinchfield Railroad in various departments and later retired from the State of TN, Department of Children's Services.
He was a member of Erwin Presbyterian Church.
He graduated from East Tennessee State University and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
McDaniel E. Sams has left behind to cherish his memories, wife of 52 years, Brenda Miller Sams of Erwin; son, Christopher Todd Sams of Erwin; sister-in-law, Deborah Miller Shaffer of Mt. Pleasant, SC; nephews, Lane Albert Shaffer of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Clay Austin Shaffer of Erwin; beloved Pet, Sassy.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of McDaniel "Danny" English Sams in a memorial service to be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Erwin Presbyterian Church, 105 N. Elm Ave., Erwin, TN 37650. Reverend Stan Webster will officiate.
A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will follow the service in the fellowship hall of Erwin Presbyterian Church. The family will attend a private committal service.
