- Manda Jane Hoss, 97, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019, from Signature Health and Rehab Center. Manda was born February 16, 1922 in Carter County to the late Dana E. and Anna Nidiffer Oliver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Tom R. Hoss; two brothers, Roby Oliver and infant brother, Earl Oliver; four sisters, Edith Oliver, Gladys Oliver, Pauline Garrison and Utah Hyder; and a great-nephew, Kerry Richardson.
Manda retired from North American Rayon after 41 years of service. She was a member of Nidiffer Chapel Church.
Those left to cherish her memories include her nephews, Jerry Hyder and Keith Oliver; her nieces, Judy Richardson (who was also her caregiver) and Debbie Sneed; and her great-nephews, Jason, Justin and Jarrod Hyder, Terry and Jeremy Sneed and Ryan and Cody Oliver.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Manda Jane Hoss will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, in the Bowers Cemetery on Joe Hardin Road, Elizabethton, with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Saturday.
