- Josephine Bise Tolley, 91, 984 Fairview Road, Hampton, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015, in the Roan Highlands Nursing Center after a brief illness.
A native of Dickenson County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Dave & Mary Rasnick Bise. She had lived most of her life in Carter County. Mrs. Tolley was a retired employee of Empire Furniture Company, Johnson City. She was a member of the Fairview Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Madge Bise, Virginia Whittemore and Shirley Honeycutt; and one brother: Ernest Bise.
She loved working in her garden and her flowers.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years: Ray Tolley; One Son: David Ray Tolley and Companion, Gay; Three Grandsons & Wives: David Allen & Kelli Tolley, Jamie & Mary Tolley and Jeff Tolley; One Step-Granddaughter and Husband: Emillie & Kyle Davis; Her Great Grandchildren: Kourtney, Kaci, Julie, Jackson and Dylan; Her Step-Great Grandchildren: Olivia, Sam, Natalie, Hesper and Bobby; Several nieces, nephews & Cousins.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Henry Berry and Rev. Shane Whittemore officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2015, in the Tolley Cemetery with the Rev. Dallas Gregg officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Ronnie Campbell. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, will be: John L. McKinney, Ed Simerly, Michael Simerly, Michael Mullins, Shane Clawson, Mike Smith, Charlie Arnett and George Collins. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Kenneth Marshall, Bernie Hill, Larry Tolley, Charlie Clawson, Wayne Bise, Gary Davis, Barney McKinney, Jim Hyder and Tim Hayes.
The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the Staff of Roan Highlands Nursing Center, and Caris Hospice for the love and tender care Moma received and her roommate, Gladys Collins, and Kathy Clawson and everyone at Burgie Drug.
