- Mrs. Minnie Lyons McKeehan, 97, 284 Tester Road, Elizabethton died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Ellen Arnett Lyons. Mrs. McKeehan was a homemaker and she was a member of Lynn Avenue Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Taylor McKeehan; a son, Roy McKeehan; a grandson, Howard Lee McKeehan Jr.; three sons-in-law, Nick Bartalone, William R. Kite and Thomas Herman; five brothers, Harrison Lyons, Alvin Lyons, Jack Lyons, Joe Lyons and Anderson Lyons and a sister, Geneva Hubbard. Survivors include three sons, Norman "Buddy" McKeehan and Howard McKeehan, both of Spruce Pine, NC and Ralph E. McKeehan, Elizabethton; seven daughters, Ola Kite, Kingsport; Peggy Johnson and Pearl Solis, both of Hobbs, New Mexico; Phyllis Bartalone, Elizabethton, Kay Herman, Johnson City, Margaret Lewis, Elizabethton and Wanalynn Chapman, Jonesborough; two brothers, Edward Lyons, Johnson City and Sam Lyons Jr., Indiana and three sisters, Annie Tester, Elizabethton, Martha Fuller, Phoenix, Arizona and Mary Lou Freeman, North Carolina. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Mrs. Minnie Lyons McKeehan will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, January 14, 2010 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Greene officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday prior to the funeral service.
Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 15, 2010 in McKeehan Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:50 A.M. on Friday for the graveside service.
