- Mrs. Bessie J. Cole Deloach, 98, 1020 Charity Hill Road, Elizabethton, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Lenoir Health Care Center, Lenoir, N.C., following an extended illness.
Mrs. Deloach was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Cameron and Ada Markland Cole. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Egbert Deloach, in 1960; four brothers, Hugh Cole, Frank Cole, Parrott Cole and Charlie Cole; two sisters, Lou Weaver and Elva Morrell; and two stepdaughters, Nellie McConnell and Ethel Messerschmidt.
Mrs. Deloach was retired from the Tennessee Line and Twine Company. She was a charter member of East Side Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Pauline Bradshaw, of the home; a sister, Mary Cole, Elizabethton; a brother, Willie Cole, Elizabethton; a stepdaughter, Ruth Davis, Crystal River, Fla.; and a grandson and his wife, Lee and Linda Bradshaw, Lenoir, N.C. Two great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Hobbs officiating. Music will be under the direction of John Brookshire. Interment will follow the service in the family cemetery. Active pallbearers will be the men of East Side Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Bowers, Gordan Brookshire and John Cornett.
