C. BAXTER SHOUN PASSES AWAY
Mr. C. Baxter Shoun passed away at the old family home on Wednesday, December 8, at the age of 65.
Mr. Shoun was born and reared in Johnson County. Sixteen years ago he moved his family to Avondale, Pa. He came back to the old family home last July.
He joined the Doe Valley Baptist Church 25 years ago and remained a faithful member until his death.
Funeral services were held at the Doe Valley Baptist Church, with Rev. Triplett, Rev. J. O. Jones and Rev. Rufus Graybeal officiating. Burial was at Mountain City Cemetery. Friends served as flower bearers and pallbearers.
Mr. Shoun is survived by his wife, seven sons, R. D., Fred, Romero, and Vernon, all of Avondale, Pa., Kermit, of West Grove, Pa., Harold of Media, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs. Lena DeVault, LaPlata, Maryland, and Mrs. Helen Robinson, Avondale, Pa.; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters, Noah Shoun, Bristol, Tenn., and Kemp and C. D. Shoun, Mountain City, Mrs. Alice Crosswhite, Lubbock, Texas, Mrs. Callie Shoun. [JAKS Note: obituary ended here.]
