- Ruby Lee Elliott, 90, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from her residence, following a brief illness. She was born in Carter County to the late Clayton and Mary Elizabeth Rainbolt Ward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Elliott on November 8, 1996; a son, John Donovan Elliott; three grandchildren, Cassie Elliott, John Elliott, Jr., and Gary Lynn Elliott; sisters, Beatrice Whaley and Louise Raines; an infant sister and an infant brother; four brothers, Frank, Tom, Ira, and Edward Ward.
Mrs. Elliott was retired from the Johnson City Medical Center as and LPN, where she had served for nineteen years. She was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church and loved gardening, flowers, and being with her grandchildren and her dogs.
Survivors include one daughter, Ms. Brenda Elliott, Elizabethton; three sons, Richard Elliott and wife Linda, Johnson City; Gerald Elliott and wife Becky, High Springs, FL; and Keith Elliott and wife Robin, Elizabethton; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Elliott, Elizabethton; one brother, Fredrick Ward and wife Denise, Elizabethton; two sisters, Marjorie Pearson and Judy Mick and husband Bruce, all of Elizabethton; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and four special friends, Jan Williams, Tammy Winters, Patricia Ward, and Tom Ward.
The funeral service for Mrs. Elliott will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 12, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Nick Bradshaw, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Friday; or at the residence at anytime.
The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Richie Elliott, Jeremy Elliott, Adam Elliott, Phillip Grant, Robert Hagy and Wayne Berry. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Ward and friends and neighbors.
