- Pearl Junior Canter, 87, Gray, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Life Care Center of Gray, after a brief illness.
Pearl was born in Lee County, Virginia on January 4, 1927. He was the son of the late Robert and Carmen Treadway Canter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVada, two sons, Jerry and David and a granddaughter, Kimberly Canter.
He was of the Baptist faith. Pearl was the owner/operator of Speedway Paint and Body Shop for 29 years before retiring due to his health.
Pearl was a WWII, U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force veteran.
He is survived by one son, Edward Canter and wife Jeanne, Jonesborough; a sister, Pat Myers, Gray; a nephew, Don Canter and wife Pam, Gray; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Canter, Gray. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Shauna Kindle (Brandon), Elizabethton; Brooke Corey (Chris), Kingsport; Chris Canter (Sara), Gray; and Michelle Canter, Rolla, Missouri; and six great grandchildren: Jared Vermillion, Rylee Ray, Zoey Kindle, and Mary, Veda and Michael Canter.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses at Life Care Center of Gray for their excellent care of "Mr. PJ."
Graveside services will be held at Monte Vista Memorial Park, Johnson City at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Those wishing to attend may meet at the cemetery at 12:45 p.m.
