- John Harrison Bentley, 88 of 1424 Miller St., died at 6:10 a.m. Friday at Holston Valley Community Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Wilkes County, N.C. and lived in Canton, Ohio for a number years. He had been a resident of Kingsport since 1959. He was a retired employee of the Hoover Company of Canton, Ohio and attended the Full Gospel Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maud Young Bentley, one daughter, Mrs. Thomas J. (Frankie) Price Jr., Kingsport, two sons, Russell Edward Bentley, Canton, Ohio and Robert Church, Newland, N.C., Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for John Harrison Bentley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday from Carter's Chapel with Rev. V.D. Stafford, Rev. Robert Brown and Rev. M.A. Raybon officiating. Burial will follow in Vale Cemetary. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday. Contributions may be made to the Children's Home. Carter's Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
