- Tom C. Pardue, age 81 of Route 5, Mountain City, died Monday at 3:30 a.m. in the Johnson County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. he was a native of North Carolina but had made his home in Johnson County the greater part of his life. He was a son of the late William and Catherine Hodge Pardue, a retired farmer, and a member of the Rainbow Baptist Church. Pardue was preceded in death by a son, Luther Pardue, who died December 1, 1970.
Survivors include the wife, Mollie M. Pardue of the home; two daughters, Miss Mae Pardue of the home; Mrs. Earlene Crowder of Mountain City; four sons, Charles Pardue, Mountain City; Clayton Pardue, Highpoint, NC; Roger Pardue, Mountain City, James Pardue, Mountain City; one sister, Mrs. Flossie P. Arnett, West Jefferson, NC, 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Wed., 2 p.m. from the Rainbow Baptist Church with Rev. J.D. Rash and Rev. Dwight Adams officiating. Burial followed in the Rainbow Cemetery. Music was under the direction of the Church Choir.
Pallbearers were, Dave Pardue, Steve Pardue, Boyd Pardue, Edd Crowder, Darrell Crowder, and Mike Arnold. Flowerbearers were ladies of the church and friends and neighbors.
