- Warren G. Estep, Sr., age 80, , Hampton, TN died Saturday, March 1, 2003 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Henry & Bertie Scalf Estep. Mr. Estep was a retired painter with Grandfather Mountain Incorporated. He was an avid fisherman and had received the pioneer award for co-founding the Hampton Bass Club. Mr. Estep was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II. He is preceded in death by an infant brother, three sisters: Lenice "Sweetie" Lyons, Edith Estep & Hildred Peeks; two grandsons: Gary Lynn Elliott & Timothy Michael White.
Survivors include his wife, of 57 years, Esther Guinn Estep, of the home; four daughters & sons-in-law: Elizabeth & David Baldwin, Fayetteville, NC, Barbara & Donnie Elliott, Elizabethton, Sherry Estep & Mike White, Elizabethton, Patricia & J.R. Matthews, Hampton; three sons & daughters-in-law: Warren Jr. & Joyce Whitehead Estep, Hampton, Bill & Vivian Estep, Abington, VA, John & Susan Gouge Estep, Elizabethton; ten grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three brothers: I.E. Estep, Johnson City, Hasford Estep, Hampton, & Bill Estep, Elizabethton; several nieces & nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Warren G. Estep, Sr., age 80, , Hampton, who died on Saturday, March 1, 2003 will be conducted at 8:00 PM, Tuesday, March 4, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 5, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family & friends.
