- Helen H. Deloach, 82, Cambridge Avenue, Elizabethton, died unexpectedly,
Friday, January 21, 2005, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Deloach was born in Washington County and had lived in Carter County most
of her life. She was the daughter of the late Will Hamby and Maude M. Matheson
Grindstaff and step-daughter of Jess Grindstaff. She was also preceded in
death by her husband, John "Walter" Deloach, December 6, 1991, and two
brothers, Leroy and Bobby Grindstaff.
Mrs. Deloach was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church but attended Roan
Street Free Will Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of North American
Rayon Corporation.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Anna Jeanette and James Andrew
Whaley, Elizabethton; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lilly Bell Jones,
Elizabethton, and Mildred Earlene and Lynn Greene, Jonesborough; two brothers
and sisters-in-law, Andrew "Andy" and Geraldine Grindstaff and Fred and Brenda
Grindstaff, all of Elizabethton; and two additional sisters-in-law, Lena
Grindstaff, Surgoinsville, and Margaret Grindstaff, Elizabethton. Several
nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, January 24, in the Chapel
of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Stockton, Rev. Ronnie Campbell
and Rev. Rick Price officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev.
Ronnie Campbell. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday,
January 25, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at
the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. Active
pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers
will be friends and neighbors and the doctors and nursing staff of Johnson
City Medical Center. Those planning to attend the graveside service are asked
to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the
cemetery.
