- Ola Maxine Elliott Estep, 76, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Niles B. and Verna Faye Grindstaff Elliott. She was a 1954 graduate of Elizabethton High School. Maxine received her RN degree from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center after 38 years of service.
She was a member of the Business and Professional Women Club, a member of the Sycamore Chapter #163 Order of Eastern Star. Maxine was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and the Victory Sunday School Class and served in the Church Choir for a number of years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Paul E. Estep, who died September 25, 2011.
Survivors include Two Daughters: Kim Estep Wright and husband, Jeff, and Jill Estep Cooper and husband, Arthur, all of Johnson City; Three Grandchildren: Chris Wright, Jordan Wright and Whitney Wright; Two Great Grandchildren, Camden Wright and Gracie Wright; Several nieces & nephews; One Sister: Nilene Hopkins, Johnson City; Three Brothers-In-Law: George Estep Jr., Lee Edwin Estep and wife, Gay, all of Elizabethton, and Huey Estep and wife, Lydia, Arcadia, California; One Sister-In-Law: Johnie Estep, Elizabethton; Her special friends who assisted her with her care and never left her side: Nancy White, Corine Phillips, Lois Persinger and Kathleen Glover.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Greer and Rev. Jimmy Hawk officiating.
Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Chris Hughes and Rev. Richard Estep officiating. Music will be provided by the Grace Baptist Church Choir, led by Debbie Gouge. Active Pallbearers will be: Gary Grindstaff, Jonathan Grindstaff, Mike Hodge, Christopher Hawk, Tim Hawk, Todd Hawk, Keith Johnson and Ricky Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Victory Sunday School Class and members of Grace Baptist Church, Staff of Memorial Funeral Chapel, Co-Workers from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center and the Board of Directors and employees of Elizabethton Federal Savings Bank.
The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, Judy Vines and Sharon Clawson.
