- Paul E. Estep 78, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011, in the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late George H. Estep, Sr. and
Bessie Norris Estep. He attended Unaka High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Paul was co-owner of Memorial Funeral Chapel that opened in August 1972. In 2004, he was recognized by the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association for 50 years of service in the funeral business. He was on the Board of Directors of Elizabethton Federal Savings Bank. He was a member of the following organizations: Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238, A 32nd Degree Mason, The American Legion Post Watauga 49 and the Sycamore Chapter #163, Order of Eastern Star.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters: Grace Estep and Evelyn Taylor; and two brothers: Porter and N D; a niece: Sue Nave; and a nephew: Dwight Nave.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years: Ola Maxine Elliott Estep; two daughters: Kim Estep Wright and husband, Jeff, and Jill Estep Cooper and husband, Art, all of Johnson City; three grandchildren: Chris Wright and wife, Jennifer, Jordan Wright and Whitney Wright; four great grandchildren; three brothers: Lee Edwin Estep and wife, Gay, and George H. Estep, Jr. and wife, Betty Jo, all of Elizabethton, and Huey Estep and wife, Lydia, Arcadia, California; two sisters-in-law: Johnie Estep, Elizabethton, and Nilene Hopkins, Johnson City; several nieces & nephews.
