- ELIZABETHTON — Billie Dove Vines Taylor, 84, of 131 Parsonage Road, Elizabethton, formerly of Rome Hollow, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2012 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
She was born in Carter County in the Fish Springs Community and was the daughter of the late Grover and Bessie Timbs Vines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Dean Vines, J.C. Vines, Raymond Vines and Winston Vines; three sisters, Orlena Gouge, Velma Vines and Nell Cates; and one grandson, Clifford Edwards.
Ms. Taylor was a member of Carter Christian Church and was a retired cook at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She enjoyed Sunday dinners, quilting, sewing, reading her bible and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Tenia and Gary Payne, Mountain City; and Dora and Dwayne Buckles, Elizabethton; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Tedford and Ramona Taylor, Johnson City; three grandchildren, Blake Taylor and wife Rachel; Caroline Payne and Tiffany Buckles; three great grandchildren, Jackson Taylor, Levi Taylor, and Lillia Taylor; two brothers, Ottis Vines and wife Jackie, Hampton; and Edward Vines and wife Marge, Hyattsville, Maryland. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Ms. Taylor will be conducted at 7:00 PM, on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Tom Caraway, minister and Mr. Daryl Cox, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service; or at the home of her daughter, Dora Buckles, 131 Parsonage Road, Elizabethton at any time. Music will be under the direction of Christina Lewis and Richard Bowers.
The graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, in the Taylor Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Daniel Buckles, Joseph Buckles, Lanny Eggers, Dean Buckles, Jeff Farmer, Ennis Bowers, Leonard Bowers, Gaylon Taylor, Tim Vines, James Pierce, and Kenny Vines. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews and members of Carter Christian Church. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
