- Christine Mary Birchfield Church, 83, formerly of Gordon Church
Rd., Elizabethton, died Sunday, May 23, 2004 in Erwin Health Care
Center, Erwin, following an extended illness.
She was born in Carter County and was a daughter of the late Grant and
Bertha Irick Birchfield.
She was a member of the Valley Forge Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband
Gordie Russel Church and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Chrisford Church and Don Church, both of
Elizabethton; two daughters, Patye Heaton of Elizabethton, Teresa West
of Raleigh, N.C.; one sister, Lorna Heaton of Erwin; one brother, Roy
Birchfield of Elizabethton; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Christine Mary Birchfield Church will be conducted
Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 8 p.m. in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of
Peace with Mr. H. Clay Bailey, minister, officiating. The family will
receive friends Tuesday, May 25, 2004 from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the service.
The graveside service and burial will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at
10 a.m. in the Walnut Mountain Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the funeral
home chapel at 9 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active
pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers
are Clyde Dugger, R. E. Campbell, and Larry Finney.
