- MOUNTAIN CITY — Betty V. Stout, age 79, of Mountain City, TN, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at 607 Fairground Lane.
She was a native of Kennett Square, PA, before moving to Mountain City, TN. She was a member of First Baptist of Mountain City. She was a homemaker and beautician for many years. She was a lover of the ocean and an avid poker player.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Ann Vaught; her husband, John Stout; daughter, Suzanne Stout Jones; one brother, James Vaught; and two sisters, Phyllis Neibeling and Dorothy Wills.
Survivors include nieces, Deborah Miller and husband, Roger, Kathy Vaught, Tina Reyes, Carol Neibeling, Terry Neibeling, Cindy Mikesell; nephews, Skip Wills and wife, Margaret, and Kirk Walker and wife, Sandy; a special friend and caregiver, Elaine Henley; and her faithful companion, "Chester."
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010, in the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel at Hux-Lipford Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Tom Peake will officiate. Special music will be by Janice Russell.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, October 8, 2010, at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Skip Wills, Steve Arnold, Joe Atwood, Kirk Walker, Roger Miller and Erby Howard. Honorary pallbearers will be Coach Arnold and Larry Sluder.
