William Bruce Peters, 74, of Rt. 3, Butler, died Wednesday, 7:45 p.m., in Johnson City Memorial Hospital, after an illness of three months. He was a native of Johnson County, a retired farmer, the son of the late Robert and Laura Harold Peters. He was a member of the Little Doe Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Iva Lee Reed Peters, Butler; three sons, Wayne and Bob, both of Johnson City, and Carl, Butler; four daughters, Miss Rosa Peters, of the home, Mrs. Ada Chambers, Elizabethton, Mrs. Dessie McCarthy, Coeburn, Va., and Mrs. Bonnie Reynolds, Wilmington, Del.; five brothers, Clyde, Willard, Hubert and Jim, all of Johnson City, and Dana, Lenoir, N. C.; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Byers, Johnson City; 26 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, 2 p.m., from the Little Doe Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Biggar and Rev. Gene Osborne officiating. Burial was in the Sinks Valley Cemetery. Pall-bearers[sic] were friends and neighbors. Flower-bearers were ladies of church and neighbors. Lewis Gentry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
