- James Delmus Griffey, Jr. 65, 818 Walnut Street, Elizabethton, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at his residence following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late James Delmus and Hazel Winters Griffey, Sr. Mr. Griffey was preceded in death by one son, James Monroe Griffey.
He was a retired bus driver with Elizabethton City Schools.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Bateman Griffey, of the home; two daughters: Sylvia and Heather Griffey, both of Elizabethton; one son, Steve Bateman, Elizabethton; one brother, Jerry Griffey, Elizabethton; one grandson, Shane Bateman, Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews.
