DEATHS
Mrs. Ellen Parsons, 86, Rt. 2, Mountain City, died Wednesday, 4:25 a.m. at the residence of a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude McMichael, after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Ashe County, N. C., but had made her home in Johnson County the greater part of her life. She was the widow of Baxter Parsons. Mrs. Parsons was a member of the Earl's Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Roderick Parson, New London, Pa.; one step-son, Emmitt Parsons, Mountain City; three daughters, Mrs. Joe Chapel, Mrs. Walter McMichael and Mrs. James Winters, all of Mountain City; one step-daughter, Mrs. Cora Combs, Mountain City; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Parsons, Kennett Square, Pa.; 28 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, 2:00 p.m. from the New Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. T. C. May and Rev. Ernest Rash officiating. Burial was in the Donnelly Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Denny Davidson, Jay Chappell, Bruce Winters, Robert Chappell, Blaine Winters and Keith Burgess.
Flowerbearers[sic] were ladies of the church and neighbors.
Lewis Gentry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
