- Beulah Hardin Bowers, 96, of Elizabethton, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at home on July 2nd following an extended illness.
She was the daughter of the late Sallie and George Butler Hardin and was born in Carter County on April 14, 1917. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Crawford Leslie Bowers; as well as brothers, Ottie Hardin, Luther Hardin and Cecil Hardin; and a sister, Dorothy Heaton; and a grandson, Lewis Bowers.
She is survived by a daughter, Sara, of Elizabethton; and a son, Steven, of Elizabethton and his wife, Jennifer. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Kaylee and Drew Bowers, of Elizabethton, and Matthew Bowers, of West Lafayette, Indiana. A large number of nieces and nephews also survive.
She will be remembered for her cheerful, positive attitude and her zest for life. She and her husband, Crawford, were the original owners of Bowers Florist in Elizabethton and as a florist she enjoyed providing floral services for the community for decades. She was a member of the Highland Arrangers Garden Club and was a lifetime member of the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs.
Mrs. Bowers was a lifelong member of the Siam Baptist Church and was active in various capacities at the church over the years.
Beulah's other interests included cooking and entertaining her friends and family. She always had a smile and encouraging words for everyone. She found beauty in everything and always looked for the best in everyone.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her friends and caregivers: Jewel Blevins, Shellie Davis, Tabitha McGill, Evelyn Blevins, Jo Anne Smith, Jennifer Lunceford, Anita West and Denise Plank for their loving devotion, friendship and the gentle care they provided for her over the past years.
A Celebration Of Life Service for Mrs. Bowers will be conducted at 6:00 PM Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Siam Baptist Church in Elizabethton with the Reverend Jack Roddy officiating. Special Music by Susan Heaton.
The family will receive friends at the church from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM prior to the service and at her home at other times.
A sunset interment at the Nave Cemetery in Siam will occur after the service. Active pallbearers include Bill Heaton, Eddie Hardin, Lynn Hardin, Ray Hardin, Carroll Montgomery, Doug Bailey, David Bennett and Randy Singleton. Honorary pallbearers will be special friends, Jessie Montgomery and the Birthday Girls, Virginia Laws and Arvella Greenwell, Warren Bicknell, Richard Butner, Steve Campbell, Tyler Eiland, J.D. Anderson and Charles Lipford.
