- Mr. Coy Stines, 81, of 1291 Joe Parlier Road, Elk Park, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at home.
He was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Watauga County, a son of the late Rev. Charlie and Ida Brown Stines.
Mr. Stines was a member of Beech Creek Regular Baptist Church, a deacon and church clerk for 46 years. He was a retired carpenter.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Faye Stines; three daughters, Gladys Guy and husband, Glenn, of Sugar Grove, Wanda Potter and husband, Dennis, and Glenda Roark and husband, Norman, all of Elk Park; five sons, Kelba Stines and wife, Betty, of Newland, Bill Stines and wife, Kathy, of Fleetwood, Carl Stines and wife, Tammie, of Butler, Tenn., Danny Stines and wife, Debbie, and Ronnie Stines, all of Elk Park; two sisters, Mrs. Viola Phillips of Vilas and Mrs. Ruth Estep, both of Elk Park. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Stines, Floyd Stines and Clyde Stines; three sisters, Mrs. Eula Ward, Mrs. Vertie Whaley and Mrs. Addie Estep; and one great-grandchild, Trenton Cody Stines.
Services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Beech Creek Regular Baptist CHurch. The body will lie in state at the church from 1-2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Dean Shephard. Burial will follow in the Stines Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Service.
