- Mary Jo Laws, 86, Butler, went home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, April 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Mary Jo was the daughter of the late P.G. and Nettie Cable Main. She worked as a homemaker, caregiver and her favorite job as the “Chef” at Toddler Time Daycare. Mary Jo was a very loving and giving person who made sure her children and grandchildren were taken care of before herself. She loved flowers and animals, especially her ducks, Bob and Sally. She was a member of Elk River Baptist Church. In addition to her parents Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Haskel “Sonny” Laws; two sisters, Edith Finney and Stella Tester; three brothers, Bud, Bob and P.G. Jr. (June); and son-in-law, Roger Woods. She is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Wes) Asher, Sheila Woods and Sonya Hardin; five grandchildren, Brandy Trivett (James), Kristal (Greg) Andrews, Samantha (Josh) Hinson, D.J. (Whitney) Oliver and John Wesley Hardin II; 12 great-grandchildren, Jared, Bryceon (Bella) and Chayse Andrews, Hannah (Caleb) and Dylan Trivett, Kaleigh (Timmy) Hodge, Shaelynn Meyer, Ella, Bubba and Sophia Hinson, Samson and Scarlet Oliver; one great-great-grandchild, Brentlee Jones; a special brother-in-law, Buddy Laws (Loretta); a special niece, Penny Sue White; a very special son-in-law, Greg Trivett; three special bonus grandchildren, Preston Tolliver, Bailey and Laken Johnson; and many special people that knew her as “MawMaw.” Mary Jo also had many special friends including her lifelong best friends, Jo Burchett and Sandy Blevins. A service to celebrate the life of Mary Jo will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brian Cable officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in the Lakeview Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, will be Greg Andrews, Greg Trivett, Jared Andrews, Bryceon Andrews, Dylan Trivett, Wesley Hardin, Caleb Jones, D.J. Oliver, James Johnson and Josh Hinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Chayse Andrews, Wes Asher and Preston Tolliver.
