- Geneva Potter Johnson 92, Elizabethton, formerly of Roan Mountain, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013, in the Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Gracie Edwards Potter. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Taylor Chapel Church of Christ, Elk Park, North Carolina, but attended the Elizabethton Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Albert Johnson; an infant daughter: Kathy Elaine Johnson; two grandsons: James Keith Shelton and Michael Albert Johnson; three brothers and three sisters; and a son-in-law: Jim Shelton.
Survivors include a daughter: Norma Jean Shelton, Woodbridge, Virginia; a son & daughter-in-law: Dick & Carolyn Johnson, Elizabethton; One Granddaughter: Kim Shelton, of Virginia; One Great Grandson: Keenan Shelton, of Virginia; One Granddaughter-in-law: Yazmin Shelton; A Brother & Sister-in-Law: Leonard & Mary Johnson, Elizabethton; A number of nieces & Nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Roby Ellis, Minister, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Taylors Chapel Cemetery, Elk Park, North Carolina. Music will be by the Congregation. Active Pallbearers will be: Ricky Fields, Robert Fields, Cecil Fields and friends from Elizabethton Church of Christ. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Gary Johnson, Tom Johnson, Richard Johnson, David Winters, Sanford McKinney Jr., R.L. Miller, Ed Heaton, Bill McKinney, Eddie McKinney, Elmer Winters, Tom Winters and Dale Winters.
