- Ella Mae Myers Bowers, 90, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012, in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late James and Almeada Garland Myers. Mrs. Bowers was a graduate of Unaka High School and attended East Tennessee State College.
She was a retired employee of Citizens Bank after 40 years of service. She was a member and former Worthy Matron of Sycamore Chapter # 163 Order of Eastern Star. She was also active in the Rainbow Girls. Mrs. Bowers was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Pat "Red" Bowers, April 7, 2012; by three brothers: Arvel, Stanley & Guy Myers; and Three Sisters; Ada Crowe, Hazel Crumley and Clydia Crosswhite.
Survivors include Two Sons: Sonny Bowers and his wife, Elaine, Pinehurst, North Carolina, and Tom "Yogi" Bowers, Elizabethton; Three Grandchildren: Patricia, Sonny and Matt; One Great Grandson: Curtis; One Sister: Mabel Richardson, Elizabethton; Several Nieces & Nephews; A special friend: Marcella Widener.
Private Funeral Services for family and Care Givers will be conducted Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Donald B. Marshall, Minister, officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and her Care Givers for the excellent care she received during her illness.
