- Maude Gryder, of the Elk River community of Carter County, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 31, 2012.
Maude was a homemaker and worked as an employee of the Shadowline Corporation in Boone until her retirement in 1988.
She was a member of the Elk River Baptist Church and served for many years as its treasurer and adult women's Sunday School teacher. In recent years, Maude experienced declining health and had to give up these cherished activities.
Maude was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha Arnold Gryder and Arlie Gryder; two brothers, Dan Gryder and John R. Gryder.
Survivors include her brother, Paul Gryder, of the Fish Springs community of Hampton, TN; and a sister, Ida Lou Campbell of the Elk River community. Maude is also survived by 8 nieces and 5 nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Elk River Baptist Church on Monday, September 3, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mike Taylor and Rev. Charles Cable officiating.
Internment will follow in the Whitehead Cemetery.
