- Roy Bowling, 77, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, in the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Robert "Bob" and Bessie Scalf Bowling. He was formerly employed at the Bemberg Corporation and North American Rayon Corporation and retired from American General Life Insurance Company after 25 years of service.
He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He loved to listen to Gospel Music.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter: Brenda Miller, June 15, 2012; five brothers: Clarence, Frank, Glen, Howard & James Bowling; and a sister: Florence Fortner.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Sheffield Bowling; One Son: Rondal (Ronnie) Bowling, Jonesborough; 8 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; One Sister; Juanita Shepherd, Elizabethton; One Brother: Elmer Bowling; Several Nieces & Nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2012. in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim "Butch" Stout and Pastor Bobby Stout officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Emmert Cemetery. Music will be provided by Greg Ruston and the Humphrey Family. Active Pallbearers. who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, will be: Bob Hughes, Tony Jones, Roger Bivens, Tommy Vanover, Lance Treadway, Kenny Harrison and Jamie Horton. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jason Bowling, Jimmy Bowling, Jamie Horton and wife. Rachael, Foster Miller and wife, Chassidy, Wendy Reece and husband, Greg, Michelle Gardner and fiancé, Robert Kelly, Sandy Rollands and April Horton.
