  Notes	Charlotte Observer, 09.19.1910 Well Known Citizen of the City Succumbs to Long Illness--Funeral Services to Be Conducted This Afternoon. Mr. J. L. Gryder died yesterday afternoon at 6:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. W. Byerly, after an illness extending over several months. The funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock by Rev. Dr. H. H. Hulten, pastor of the First Baptist church, at the residence of Mrs. Byerly. The deceased had been suffering with a throat affection for some time, having undergone an operation about six months ago. He apparently regained himself as a result of this operation, but a month ago the trouble returned in an aggravated form and his condition has been desperate since. Mr. Gryder came to Charlotte 22 years ago and was well-known in the city. For a good part of this time he was engaged in the furniture business. The deceased is survived by a wife, mother, two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Davis and Mrs. Martha Barnett of Taylorsville; two daughters, Mrs. D. W. Byerly and Miss Miram Gryder of this city, and two brothers, Messrs. W. W. Gryder of Taylorsville and J. R. Gryder of Dark Ridge, N. C.
