- Fannie A. Calhoun, 87, 119 Lover's Lane, Elizabethton, died Sunday, May 18, 1997 at Johnson City, Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Calhoun was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Link and Dorthy Harrison Presnell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oscar C. Calhoun, August 5, 1986, a son, Doris Calhoun, a sister, Lorenia Brewer, and a brother, George Presnell. Mrs. Calhoun was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include three daughters, Lucille Powell, of the home, Joyce Pierce, Elizabethton, and Lillian Watts, Laurinburg, N.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Sandy Calhoun, Bristol, and H.H. and Nancy Calhoun, Mishawaka, Ind.; a sister, Myrtle Jones, Roan Mountain; and a brother, Frank Presnell, Roan Mountain. Twenty-eight grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements. Funeral services for Fannie A. Calhoun, 119 Lover's Lane, Elizabethton, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Rogers and Rev. Dale Greenwell officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons: Larry Powell, Randy Powell, Jr. "Pooner" Powell, Gary Potter, Dennis Watts and Rodney Butler. A special thanks to the Carter County Rescue Squad, Nurses of the 2nd Floor of Johnson City Medical Center and the Lifecare Home Health Nurses.
