- KNOXVILLE — Robert C. Nidiffer, 86, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013 in the Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville, following a brief illness.
He was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Fusson L. and Anna Lee Adams Nidiffer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Nidiffer was a retired insurance adjuster, having worked at Allstate and was of the Baptist faith. He was a United States Navy veteran, having served in World War II and was a member of American Legion Post #49. He was a loving husband and was devoted to his family and he will be sadly missed.
Survivors include his wife of sixty seven years, Mary Ellen McNutt Nidiffer, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Lynn and Cindy C. Nidiffer, Knoxville, TN; two grandchildren, Abby Wilson and husband Jake, Knoxville, TN; and Robby Nidiffer, Chattanooga; one great granddaughter, Halle Lynne Wilson, Knoxville; and one brother, Jessie Smith Nidiffer, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Nidiffer will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Kent Williams, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel prior to the service on Thursday. Music will be under the direction of Jake Wilson.
The graveside service will follow the service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
