- ELIZABETHTON — Ms. Mamie Garland Celia, age 93, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late M.D. and Vada Grindstaff Garland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and eight brothers.
Ms. Celia was a homemaker and a member of Unaka Baptist Church
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Lacey, Barbara Honeycutt and her husband, Dave, and Beverly White and her husband, Lanny, all of Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Whitney Boylan and her husband, John, Raleigh, NC, Roman White and Rhonda Lacey, both of Johnson City, Scott Lacey, Jonesborough, and Amanda Holly and her husband, Tom, Elizabethton; four great-grandchildren, Mackin Boylan, Olivia Holly, Seth Holly and Phoebe Holly; two sisters, Ida Taylor, Elizabethton, and Laura Watson, Atlanta, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Ms. Mamie Garland Celia will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, April 16th, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Richard Estep officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Jerry Barnett, soloist.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 PM prior to the funeral service in the chapel.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 17th, in the Garland Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dave Honeycutt, Lanny White, Roman White, Scott Lacey, John Boylan and Tom Holly. Everyone will meet at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services at 10:15 AM on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Staff and Residents of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the love, care and friendship that was given to Ms. Celia.
