- Donald J. Treadway, 69, 312 East I Street, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mozella Hagy Treadway. Mr. Treadway was a 1959 graduate of Hampton High School and attended East Tennessee State University and Milligan College. Don was a retired Photographer with Coleman's Studio and had served as a Commissioner in the 8th District for 29 years. He was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church and a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 and the Elizabethton Elks Lodge #1847. Don was an avid Lady Vols fan and golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Markland Treadway; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Brandy Treadway, Forsyth, Ga..; three grandchildren, Erica Love, Hannah Miller and Bailey Miller; and a sister, Janice Treadway Ferguson and husband Henry, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The graveside service for Mr. Treadway will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 9, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Dr. James Royston officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Joel Crisp. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, will be Shane Gouge, Doug Buckles, Cary White, David Sellers, Joe Sluder, Brian Vaughn, Larry Woods and Norman Peters. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Swift, Norman Chesser, Bill Horton, Billy Ray Harrell, Kent Hyder, Mack Henry, members of the 1959 Graduating Class of Hampton High School and present and former Commissioners of Carter County. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the ICU of Johnson City Medical Center, employees of Sycamore Shoals Hospital, the Princeton Transitional Service and Dr. Kenny Hopland. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
