- JOHNSON CITY - Thomas "Tommy" W. Altman, age 77, of Johnson City, went to be with the Lord following a lenthgy illness.
Mr. Altman born on February 15, 1940 in Greene County to the late T.D. and Earlene Altman. He was a member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Altman was formerly employed at Interstate Foundry, Johnson City Foundry, and Kingsport Foundry. Tommy was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a maintenance man and a great mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Dugger; brother, Jerry Atman; sister, Jean Deloach.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Becky Gillette Altman, Johnson City; a daughter, Teri Vines and husband Tim, Johnson City; two grandchildren, Andrew Dugger and Audrey King, both of Johnson City. Several great grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Altman will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Yelton officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 13 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky Gillette, Dr. Jeff Farrow and Dr. Frank Forbush.
