W.J. (Jake) Reece, 87, Rt. 8 Johnson City, died Wednesday night in Jonesboro Nursing Home following an extended illness.
A native of Johnson County and son of the late Isaac and Sarah Maples Reece, he had lived in Johnson City for the past 10 years. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ellen I. Reece; one daughter, Mrs. Bobby Curry, Rt. 8; one sister, Mrs. Robert Thompson, Lafayette, Ind.; five brothers, Wilson L. and Millard, Chattanooga, Joseph I., Pickens, S.C., Osa C., Clearwater, Fla., and Lem L., Jonesboro; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m., from the Sugar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Cohen Arms officiating. Burial was in the Dugger Cemetery.
Pall-bearers[sic] were James Potter, Lionel Potter, Lowell Isaacs, Raymond Isaacs, Shafter Stout and France Holloway.
Flower-bearers[sic] were ladies of the church and friends.
