- Mable Carroll Burton, born the seventh day, seventh month 1917, of Johnson City passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2010, in the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Emory William Carroll Sr. and Laura Hicks Carroll. She had lived a number of years in Pulaski, Virginia.
She was a former employee of the Radford Army Ammunition, Radford, Virginia. She was of the Methodist Faith. Mrs. Burton loved to bowl and play golf.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Burton; one sister, Wanda Hicks; and seven brothers: Jay, Johnny, Denton, Gordon, Hearley, Bruce and Emory Carroll Jr.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Derl Curry officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Debra Broyles, Gail Fleenor and the Morris Trio. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, will be: Ted Mynatt, Bob Carroll, Tim Carroll, James Carroll, Mitchell Shupe and Harold Hicks. Honorary Pallbearers will be friends and neighbors.
