MRS. CECILE GARLAND SHOUN...
... died at the Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, Tuesday night, Jan. 5, at 12:00 o'clock. She had been hospitalized for several days as a result of complications following illness of long duration.
She was a daughter of the late James Garland and Mrs. Catherine Garland of Shady Valley, and the wife of Stanley Shoun of Johnson City, and formerly of Johnson county.
Mrs. Shoun had been a teacher in the public schools of Upper East Tennessee for many years. She was a teacher in the Washington county system at the time of her death. Her last in Johnson county schools was in Shady Valley School in 1955-1956.
She was educated in the Johnson county schools and East Tennessee State College, from which she had both the bachelors and masters degrees in education.
She was a member of the Shady Valley Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held at the Central Baptist Church in Johnson City, Friday, Jan. 8, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Monte Vista cemetery.
